Should I Buy Insurance When Travelling to Another Province
PLANNING ON TRAVELING WITHIN CANADA?
Government health care plans don’t cover many incidentals outside of your home province such as an ambulance ride and out-of-pocket expenses. When flying, driving, taking the train, sailing or portaging from province to province (or territory), it’s wise to purchase emergency health and medical travel insurance.
For specific details on what and how much coverage is available for out-of-province emergency care, check with your provincial health services department. The emergency hospital and medical plan benefits that travel insurance provides are over and above what government plans cover.
